Well. Today is technically Thanksgiving in Korea...since I'm a time-travelling expat and all. So, I've decided to do a gratuitous "I'm thankful for..." post. Enjoy my stream of consciousness.

I'm thankful for my family. I know that wherever my adventures take me I'll always have a home to come back to. I love you Mom and Dad. I'm thankful for the relationship we have. I'm thankful you put up with my craziness and wandering spirit. I'm thankful you are beautiful and accepting people. I'm thankful for the person you've made me. I'm thankful you're so dang cool.

I'm thankful for my generous brother. I'm thankful that our relationship has strengthened these past few years. I'm thankful we can watch movies together and argue about whether they are good or not. (Drag Me To Hell is NOT a good movie!)

I'm thankful for my extended family. I'm thankful for aunts, uncles, cousins, and those we consider family regardless of true relation. I'm thankful for all that you enrich me with. I'm thankful you continue to inspire and challenge me. You're all pretty dang cool too.

I'm thankful for all of my friends; domestic and international. I'm thankful for your generosity, spontaneity, creativity, cultured-outlooks, funny jokes, bad jokes, and inappropriate jokes. I'm thankful for the long-lasting friendships that will go on well into our 80s. Ain't no party like a senior citizen party cause a senior citizen party don't stop! Until it's bedtime...at 4pm of course.
I'm thankful that ups and downs are always followed by more ups. I'm thankful that we can pick up right where we left off even if it's been a couple months or a couple years.

I'm thankful for Joy and her growing family. (Yes, you!) I'm thankful you put up with my tidal wave of stories, venting, and all around chaotic ramblings. I'm thankful that we grew up together and that we will continue to "grow-up" just as close. I'm thankful we can talk. And I'm thankful we can listen. I'm thankful that your family has persevered and stayed so strong. I'm thankful I can look to you as an example of strength.

I'm thankful for Korea. I'm thankful for travel, and temples, and kimchi, and kimbap. Kimbap triangles, soju, adjammas, clementines, and subways. I'm thankful for Korean style: the good, the bad, and the really bad. I'm thankful for my apartment, my job, my coteachers, my school, and Daejeon. I'm thankful for my students: the adorable ones and the ones that give me a challenge. I'm thankful to have a bank account that lets me explore and save for future explorations. I'm thankful for being treated with kindness and acceptance. I'm thankful to survive those moments that are so often lost in translation. I'm also thankful that The North hasn't done anything stupid.
I'm thankful I took this chance.

I'm thankful to be living in the time we're living. I'm thankful this world is so small. I'm thankful for charity, goodwill, and the human spirit. I'm thankful for activists. I'm thankful that we've made it this far.

I'm thankful for this past year. I'm thankful to have a BFA. I'm thankful to have been/be making, selling and teaching art. I'm thankful that this career path is even an option. I'm thankful for all of the opportunities I've been presented with this past year. I'm thankful that I took advantage of them as well. I'm thankful for all of the people I've met and places I've been. I'm thankful for every new experience -good and bad, for they all forge me into who I am today.

K, but really...I'm thankful for puppies, pumpkin spice lattes, new socks, and the sound a Snapple lid makes when you first break it's seal. I'm thankful for good beer, cheap beer, and well...beer. I'm thankful for cereal that tastes like dessert and bad horror movies. I'm thankful for Hugh Jackman (The answer is always Hugh Jackman.), new packages of construction paper, and Hugh Jackman. Did I say that already? I'm thankful for soap, pens that write well, and political cartoons. I'm thankful for bathtubs, mozzarella cheese, and whoever thought that trimming hedges into animal shapes was a good idea. I'm thankful for robots.

I'm thankful you read this entire post...hahaa
